I’ve been reading Yoga as Medicine: The Yogic Prescription for Health and Healing, by Yoga Journal and Dr. Timothy McCall. Dr. McCall writes “…yoga is something like learning to play musical instrument: the longer you stick with it, the more you practice, the better you get and the more you will get out of it.” How perfectly does that explain it? The almost addictive nature that yoga can have. The more I practice, the more that I want to practice. The more I push my body, the more I’m amazed by and appreciate what my body is capable of doing. And even on days when I’m not looking to grow my practice, just living my practice is as soothing an old standard on the piano.
My body is my instrument, and yoga is its song.
