What a great night. My mom came down to Haute in Solana Beach after I finished teaching a couple of classes and working the desk to join me for Shane Robson's restorative class. H-E-A-V-E-N. Seriously. Such a nice way to spend an hour. For anyone lucky enough to to have had a class with Shane in the past knows he's an exceptional teacher. Wise beyond his years, he can inspire and challenge and guide you into poses and breath work that you'd never think would be in your reach. I "warned" my mother ahead of time- Shane is so good -- this might be a really challenging restorative class. Imagine my surprise (though, thinking about it, I so shouldn't be surprised), Shane's class was gentle, peaceful, focused and relaxed. He worked with my bionic mom and all of her necessary adjustments with grace and humor and ease. He got us gently into poses and then hung back in silence, letting us fully absorb that point of active relaxation. It was just lovely, from start to finish, and we both left feeling great.
We wrapped it up talking to Shane for a few in the lobby and then walking over to Crush for a yummy dinner. All in all, just a wonderful night with my mom and a wonderful night of yoga.
